Adrenal Failure Symptoms

More and more Americans are walking around feeling sick and tired and their adrenal failure symptoms go undiagnosed. They have been to their traditional medical doctor, gone through blood tests and still no solution. Generally you get from your doctor, “your fine, there is nothing wrong with you.” When you know there is something amiss and not right.

Mainstream medicine generally refuses to recognize adrenal failure symptoms, unless you meet the diagnostic criteria for Addison’s disease (extremely little adrenal function) or Cushing’s disease (hyper adrenal). These diseases together affect less than 2% of the population and are the extreme cases. What is happening to those that have adrenal failure or fatigue but not extreme enough to be diagnosed with Addison’s or Cushing’s disease?

Some experts believe that upwards of 80% of the population suffers from some level of adrenal failure symptoms. Besides the usual symptoms of overwhelming fatigue and inability to handle stress, the symptoms listed below provide a more complete picture of adrenal fatigue and are often overlooked.

Below are some adrenal failure symptoms:

Many people with adrenal failure symptoms find it hard to get out of bed in the morning even after a full nights sleep. In addition, they find that doing basic tasks such as paying bills, going to the grocery store, going for a walk, exercising, requires a great deal of energy.

Individuals experiencing adrenal failure symptoms, generally lose their tolerance margin. They can become overwhelmed very easily and get angered or upset easily. They have have decreased clarity of thought, and sometimes poor short term memory.

Many of us have food sensitivities, which can exacerbate adrenal fatigue. When your immune system is comprised many food sensitivities can become full blown allergies. One suggestion is to get a food allergy test. When you find out which foods you are highly sensitive or allergic to, then you can avoid them for the time that you are repairing your adrenals. Which will assist in the healing process.

When one suffers from adrenal fatigue, they are more likely to get severe or recurrent colds, infections and illnesses. It Generally it takes longer for someone with adrenal failure symptoms to heal.

Cortisol production follows a curve from highest levels around 8am, dropping throughout the day until the lowest levels are reached about 11pm. When a person has adrenal fatigue they generally have high cortisol levels before bed, rather than low cortisol levels. When this happens generally people feel restless and once they do fall asleep, it is not a deep REM sleep. Which ultimately compounds the problem of adrenal failure.

A person with weakened adrenals generally will get dizzy when they move too quickly from sitting to standing. This occurs because generally blood pressure rises from sitting to standing. However, individuals with adrenal fatigue, their blood pressure drops when they move from sitting to standing because they lack cortisol in their system so they body is unable to pump epinephrine into the blood vessels quickly enough.

As adrenal fatigue progresses, blood glucose levels will tend to fall too low. The body responds to hypoglycemia by causing the person to crave anything that will rapidly raise blood sugar levels, such as a soda, candy bar, a cup of coffee or even cigarettes.

Generally those with weakened adrenals will constantly crave salty foods or salt. If you suspect you have adrenal fatigue you should always add sea salt to your water, and avoid soft drinks and sports drinks like Gatorade.

Many people are walking around chronically tired and fatigued. On top of that are getting frustrated that there are no clear answers. The good news is, adrenal failure and fatigue is something you can recover and heal from. It just takes a commitment to make huge lifestyle changes.
